Luna Alvarez
In loving memory of Luna Alvarez.
Their Story
Luna was a Halloween kitten — born on October 31st, black as midnight, with eyes like two harvest moons. The shelter said she was 'independent.' What they meant was that she would choose her person, in her own time, and heaven help anyone who rushed her. She chose Marisol on a cold January day in 2015 by climbing into her purse and refusing to leave. For ten years she ran the household from the left windowsill: supervising the street, taxing every tuna can, and conducting her famous 3am hallway sprints that sounded like a horse race and stopped the moment anyone turned on a light. She was not a lap cat, until the last winter, when suddenly she was. We understood what she was telling us. We are grateful for every one of those evenings.
