Lucky (2014 – 2026)

Their Story

Lucky came to us as a twelve-week-old ball of ears and paws, and for twelve years he was the heartbeat of our home. He was a German Shepherd of the old school — serious about his job, which as far as he was concerned was keeping every member of his family in sight at all times. He loved the park on Saturday mornings, the spot of sun by the kitchen window, and the sound of car keys — any car keys, anywhere. He never once caught the squirrel by the back fence, and he never once stopped believing today would be the day. He grew up alongside our kids, guarded every pizza delivery with terrifying professionalism, and in his gray-muzzled years learned to climb onto the couch he'd been banned from for a decade, because by then nobody had the heart to tell him no. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge on a warm June morning with his head in our hands. Run free, Lucky Boy. The back fence squirrel doesn't know how easy it has it now.
