Kiwi O'connell
In loving memory of Kiwi O'connell.
Their Story
For fifteen years, no morning in the O'Connell house began without Kiwi's reveille. She learned the kettle's whistle so perfectly that for a decade, nobody could be sure if the water was ready or if Kiwi was simply feeling theatrical. She rode shoulders at breakfast like a tiny golden admiral, rang her bell when the conversation wasn't about her, and wolf-whistled at every single guest who ever came through the front door — a greeting that embarrassed and delighted in equal measure. She knew the microwave beep, the phone ringtone, and the first seven notes of Happy Birthday, which she deployed at random and never once on an actual birthday. The house is far too quiet at 7am now. Some mornings we whistle back at the silence, just in case.
