Alita (2012 – 2025)

Their Story

Alita, my third German Shepherd and bearer of that name, was a wonderful, funny, sometimes annoying dog. She was very loyal, I remember when my mother fell while she was alone at home, and Alita lay against her on the floor to keep her warm, barking furiously at me to raise the alarm when I got home from work. She unfortunately developed degenerative myelopathy, and I was forced to assist her with a harness for the last 8 months of her life. She suffered a stroke and I was forced to put her down a few weeks later as she went downhill after that. We had her euthanised at home on her favourite couch, and later cremated. Alita was our family, and her loss was devastating. She lasted 13 years, 2 months.
